Baume & Mercier Clifton 10111
September 9, 2018
Amidst the popularity of GMT releases, there is another timepiece that is outside the bandwagon arena but still brings impact due to its classicism and modernity. Baume & Mercier continues to surface with its rich horology since the 1830's.
Part of the Richemont Group, this brand is known for creating remarkable innovations but still at a decent range of affordability.
The Baume & Mercier Clifton Due Time Grey Dial (MOA10111) gives you a luxurious daily look at the same time meets the equilibrium of price and quality.
Let’s take a look at why this timepiece created a niche market in the industry.
Look and Feel
Baume et Mercier was able to maintain a stainless steel case but the best part is blending it perfectly between a rose-gold tone on hands including its dial markers and a grey dial fit for a brown alligator-embossed leather strap.
Case thickness is at 11.3mm to maintain a decent thin classy watch and also balanced at case size of 43mm. Additional aesthetics aside from the date and 24-hour complications are the skeleton case back and elegant deployment clasp functions.
The Clifton 10111 indeed has presented itself as a fine dress watch with all the points and details mentioned above. However, Watch Daddy would have preferred the case size to be limited to a maximum of 40mm (preferably just around 38-39mm for dress watches).
It's current size of 43mm would limit some to use it under their dress shirts and might be too big for folks with just 6.5 inches wrists.

Perfect to wear with your formal dress shoes
Movement
Housed inside the stainless steel case is a dependable Baume & mercier caliber SW260-1. Aside from the standard Swiss watch having its scratch resistant sapphire crystal, this automatic piece has 42 hours power reserve and has water resistance of 50 meters / 165 feet.
Pricing
Its retail price upon release reached almost $3,500 but discounts were applied over time which is at floor price of almost $1,500. This is where value is realized further as it retains its quality.
So it’s advisable to wait for a while for new Baume et Mercier releases to be still at the market for some time as people are dazed with more popular brands such as Rolex, Omega, and the like.
Best to talk with your local suppliers and see what type of discounting that they can provide.
